In November 2009, as a 13 year breast cancer survivor, I walked the Susan G Komen 3-day for the Cure walk for the first time in San Diego. This was a wonderful experience and the 60-mile walk raised 9.5 million dollars to support research and breast related care. I'm proud to say that $3600 of that came from my supporters. Less than two weeks after the walk was over I decided that it was important for me to be involved beyond this first year, so I registered to walk in 2010, first in Boston in July, as a member of The Pink Angels team, and then in San Diego again in November. I did those two walks, with lots of rain in San Diego, and because Breast cancer doesn't stop, I'm not stopping either. So, in 2011 I walked in Tampa and then in Arizona. and in 2012 I walked twice, Boston in July and Twin Cities in August. I have now registered for SBoston in July of 2013 and Hope to raise enough to register for a 2nd walk in Seattle.
In order to walk I have to raise $2300 for each walk. So, I am offering a Thank You gift to my donors. For donations of $25, donors may choose one of my small crochet critters. For donations of $60 donors may select on of the larger crochet critters. The small critters are generally between 10 and 11 inches tall and the larger ones 14 to 18 inches tall. Donors can choose from ones I have available or can request a specific animal and color scheme that I will then make. Just contact me at donate@crochet4thecure.com to put in your request. All parts of these animals are either crocheted or embroidered on. There are no hard pieces so they are good gifts for young children. You can see the critters and items I have available currently, and the ones I have made and can make again, on the following pages, as well as how you can donate and claim one of the gifts.
I have added a new line to my creations...the FLOOZIES (A FLOOZY is a colorful woman who thinks for herself, dresses any way she wants and doesn't give a hoot about what others think of her. She defines herself and doesn’t accept others’ definitions of herself.)
Because they are an original design, and take more time and materials, FLOOZIES are gifted for donations of $100 or more. They are not child safe and are for adults. They take me about 10 hours to construct, so if you would like one by a specific time you will need to give me some lead time in case I am working on another project for someone.
